BCAST Wins CMF Innovation Award 2017

On 23 November 2017 BCAST were awarded the Cast Metals Federation Innovation Award for 2017. BCAST received the award for our work with Sarginsons on the LEAAST project. Funded by Innovate UK the LEAAST project has developed the BD1 alloy, a new high strength high ductility aluminium casting alloy.  The BD1 alloy has generated a large amount of commercial interest due to the new levels of component strength, combined with high levels of elongation which make it suitable for highly stressed components that require a significantly more ductile response during crash.

Congratulations to our lead researchers within this project Dr Shouxun Ji, Dr Xixi Dong and to all those involved in the project.
